Beloit mourns passing of retired deputy fire chief who coordinated emergency responses

BELOIT, Wis. — The City of Beloit was mourning Thursday after the passing of a longtime leader in the area’s firefighting community.

Retired Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Hedrington died this week at the age of 71, a city spokesperson said. He became a full-time firefighter for the City of Beloit in February 1987 and rose the ranks to become deputy chief before his retirement in December 2017.

“Deputy Chief Hedrington was a respected leader with a passion for the community he served and the fire and emergency service family he led with integrity and pride,” Beloit’s interim fire chief Todd Farley said. “His legacy will remain within the Beloit Fire Department and our condolences go out to his family and fire department family.”…
