Rockford man pleads guilty to conspiracy to commit murder in 2024 case

ROCKFORD, Ill (WTVO) — Aarionte Mahone pleaded guilty Friday, May 1, to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and intent to kill in connection with a 2024 Rockford murder.

According to Rockford Police, Chase Higgins, 27, was shot multiple times after a fight at an after-hours event in the 6600 block of E. State Street on Saturday, August 24th, 2024. Police said Higgins later died from his injuries.

In 2024, detectives identified four suspects in the case: Enrique Dozal, then 21, Aarionte Mahone, who was 27 at the time, Jason Bryant, then 29, and a 15-year-old. All were initially charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery…
