3,422 pounds of illegal fireworks seized in Solano and Stanislaus counties

(FOX40.COM) — Law enforcement in Northern California are cracking down on the possession of illegal fireworks, with over 3,400 pounds of illegal fireworks seized across two investigations in Solano and Stanislaus counties, officials said.

On June 30, the Rio Vista Police Department responded to a tip that claimed that someone in a vehicle was selling illegal fireworks within city limits. Upon finding the vehicle, patrol officers saw a several people in line to buy illegal fireworks, who then fled upon seeing the unmarked patrol vehicle, Rio Vista police said.

After identifying the person responsible for the illegal sales, officers arrested them and they were booked into the Solano County Jail. A total of 1,622.75 pounds of illegal fireworks were seized as evidence, Rio Vista police said…
