Prescribed burn to take place at Mather Airport in preparation for California Capital Airshow

(FOX40.COM) — The forecast in the Mather area on Monday will be smoky skies, as the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District announced they are partnering with the Sacramento County Airport Fire Department to conduct a planned prescribed burn at the Mather Airport.

Controlled fire will be used to remove approximately 118 acres of vegetation as part of ongoing fuel management efforts in order to prepare the airfield for the California Capital Airshow to happen in the Fall.

According to officials, smoke will be visible in the Mather Airport vicinity between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday, July 20, and it may be visible from surrounding roadways and neighboring communities…
