A California professor who investigators say spent weeks communicating with what he believed was a child’s family member is now facing more than 18 years behind bars after a federal investigation uncovered disturbing online conversations, digital evidence and child exploitation material.
A former University of the Pacific professor has been sentenced to 18 years and 6 months in federal prison after authorities said an undercover FBI operation exposed his alleged attempt to arrange a sexual encounter with a child he believed was only 7 years old.
