Headache-inducing traffic project gets underway on busy California interstate corridor

Caltrans has announced an extended closure of the westbound Interstate 80 (I-80) connector ramp to eastbound U.S. Highway 50 (US-50) starting Friday, September 13. The closure is part of the Yolo I-80 Pavement Rehabilitation Project and will last from 9 p.m. September 13 until 5 a.m. September 23. Motorists are advised to plan for delays and use the following detours: westbound I-80 to southbound I-5 for US-50 access, or to Enterprise Boulevard for eastbound US-50. The work zone spans from the Yolo Causeway to West Sacramento, with a reduced speed limit of 55 mph in effect. The $280 million project, which includes $47 million from Senate Bill 1, aims to enhance road safety and infrastructure. For updates, contact Caltrans District 3 at (916) 825-5252.
