Sacramento man sentenced to 8 years in federal prison on firearm and narcotics charges

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento man was sentenced on Tuesday to eight years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, according to federal prosecutors.

Gabriel Cabrera, 23, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez after previously pleading guilty on September 9, 2025.

According to court documents, agents conducted a parole search of Cabrera’s home on March 28, 2025. During the search, agents found a firearm and fentanyl that Cabrera had hidden in another resident’s bedroom. Agents also located drug paraphernalia and a drug sales ledger in Cabrera’s room. On his cellphone, officers found a video of Cabrera holding the same firearm as well as numerous messages in which he discussed his fentanyl sales…
