Cooler temperatures and rain on the way for St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — A frontal boundary is passing over the region Sunday morning, pushing rain to the southeast.

Behind the front, gradual clearing is expected through the day along with breezy northwest winds. Afternoon temperatures will only reach the 70s, nearly 10 degrees below normal. The cooler air will lead to a cool evening and overnight period, with temperatures dropping into the 50s across the area.

Monday will bring more sunshine as high pressure slips to the east, allowing winds to settle. Temperatures will be a couple of degrees warmer, making for a pleasant start to the workweek.

By Tuesday, the pattern begins to shift again as the high moves out of the region, establishing a renewed southwest flow. Rain chances return as early as Tuesday and become more likely Wednesday afternoon into Thursday.
