EDWARDSVILLE — The 1993 killing of a Granite City woman was personal to Madison County Sheriff Jeff Connor on Wednesday as he addressed the Madison County Board.
Connor was invited to speak at the board’s meeting about the recent break in the 1993 homicide of Randy Gail Black Sperino. He noted Sperino, who was 33 years old at the time of her death, lived in the same neighborhood in Granite City where he grew up.
“My parents, up until they recently just passed away, lived just about three blocks from where she was raised, and where she actually last was seen alive,” he said. “This was on my stomping grounds.”…
