Child remains found in Illinois woods linked to kidnapping case

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. — Investigators have discovered the remains of what is believed to be a child in a wooded area of southwestern Illinois, an investigation authorities say could be connected to a parental kidnapping case that spans Missouri and Illinois.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the remains were found Wednesday after an extensive, multi-department search in Stookey Township, about 16 miles southeast of St. Louis.
