A Granite City man is facing Felony Weapons charges in Fayette County.
25 year old Trentston A. Sappington is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with Defaced Serial Number, which is a Class 3 Felony. Information on the charge states that Sappington is alleged to have knowingly possessed a firearm–a Combat Arms Combat 19 handgun–with the manufacturer’s serial number changed, altered, removed or obliterated.
Sappington also faces a charge of Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in a Vehicle with No FOID Card, which is a Class 4 Felony. Information on the charge says that Sappington is alleged to have the hand gun in his vehicle uncased at a time when he was not on his own property.
