ST. LOUIS – Wednesday is bringing some showers across the St. Louis Metro area during the day, but overnight into Thursday, communities will see several rounds of rain and storms.
As of Wednesday afternoon, all counties on the Missouri side of the FOX 2 viewing area near the Interstate 44 corridor and north are under a flood watch. Calhoun County is the only county in Illinois included in this watch.
Additionally, there is a Level 1 (out of 5) risk for severe weather along the I-44 corridor across Missouri and Illinois.
Meteorologist Chris Higgins says that not only will the system bring individual storms that will produce a significant amount of rain, but some spots may see multiple rounds of storms, leading to rainfall adding up quickly.
One to two inches of rainfall is expected widespread across the region, but pockets of up to four inches is possible in spots, especially in the southwestern most parts of our Missouri viewing area…
