Venice City Council Passes Curfew Ordinance for Youth

The Venice City Council met on August 10 at its new time of 5:30 pm. The only lublic comment was from Eleanor Tyler who thanked the board for moving the meeting time to accomodate working residents.

The building inspector reported issuing four occupancy permits and the health inspector wrote two citations for grass. The code enforcement officer wanted to follow up with the city about cleaning up their properties so they are leading by example when they cite residents. The fire chief said the fire truck will go in the building once electrical is completed.

Committee reports included the streets and alleys chair reported that there are several abandoned cars on Douglas Street. Mayor Phillip White asked Police Chief Kevin Knox to do another sweep of the city ticketing broken down and abandoned vehicles. The demolitions chair said one condemned home would be torn down by the Madison County soon and two more city owned homes are next on the list…
