5-year-old’s abduction in St. Louis County was a hoax, police say

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – No child was abducted in St. Louis County on Monday morning, authorities said.

Monday morning, an Amber Alert was issued for a 5-year-old girl who was left in a running 2020 Jeep Renegade that was stolen around 8 a.m. in the 8900 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Affton.

St. Louis County Public Information Supervisor Vera Clay said there was a report that “The guardian brought the child out, put her in the car, went inside to get something else and came back out, and the car was gone.”

Police said the vehicle was found at the Madaford Gardens Apartments, but the girl was still missing…
