Representing the Webster Groves Police Department, Capt. Jillian McCoy recently joined select law enforcement leaders from around the world in Poland to visit a concentration camp, honor Holocaust survivors and help ensure a similar horror never happens again.
“This experience changed me,” said McCoy, who in April flew to Berlin, Germany, and then traveled to Kraków, Poland, to visit Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz and take part in the March of the Living.
Participants march a 3-kilometer route from Auschwitz I to the Birkenau extermination camp, mirroring the path of destruction, which has been transformed into a march of life. This annual event seeks to educate about the Holocaust, fight modern antisemitism and ensure the memory of the six million Jews who perished at the hands of Nazi Germany is never forgotten…
