St. Louis City sheriff’s deputies could soon patrol MetroLink platforms

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Bi-State Development, which runs MetroLink, partners with local law enforcement agencies in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Clair County to have visible patrols at their platforms.

In St. Louis City, there is currently a contract for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department to patrol the platforms and trains within the city. However, Bi-State is looking to contract with the St. Louis City Sheriff’s Department instead.

The current agreement with SLMPD expires on June 30, 2026, and Bi-State said SLMPD does not have the staffing levels to maintain the requirements needed for the contract. That’s why they are looking to partner with the sheriff’s department…
