A cleanup effort is underway this weekend at a long-standing homeless encampment in St. Paul’s Pig’s Eye Park.
“Helping folks get food, water, helping to keep the site clean,” explains Lewis G, a spokesperson for the Stop the Sweeps Coalition. “We’re trying to bridge, trying to organize across the line of the housed and the unhoused.”But the volunteers picking up trash and providing food and water face a Wednesday deadline, when the city plans to clear the encampment, home to 250 people, maybe more.
