Pearson’s Candy Company permanently closed its St. Paul manufacturing plant Sept. 28, ending production at the West 7th facility after 67 years at that location, eliminating about 80 jobs.
St. Paul Candy Company, doing business as Pearson’s Candy Company, disclosed the closure in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. The company said the plant at 2140 West 7th St. lacked the financial sustainability needed to continue operating.
The affected jobs include production, maintenance, shipping, sanitation, management and technical positions. Some production employees are represented by Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union Local 22…
