Jacob Parent broke the 400m dash record at South Dakota State University last weekend. He came second with a time of 47.70, beating Karl Olsen’s 2018 record of 47.88. Parent’s time is the fifth fastest in Division III this year.
Most of the Royals team participated in the UW-Stout Quad on Friday. Adam Hokanson and Evan Larsen stood out, both ranking in the top five in the weight throw and shot put. Hokanson came third in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put, while Larsen ranked fourth in both events.
Sam Gardeen and Simon Swenson added to the Royals’ field event achievements. Gardeen ranked fifth in the pole vault and Swenson third in the triple jump.
On the track, Victor Lelinga clocked a season-best time of 1:57.36 in the 800m, coming fourth. He was also part of the 4x400m relay team that ranked fourth. Other highlights included Josh Lee’s personal best in the 60m hurdles and Sam Raitz’s first collegiate 400m.
The Royals’ next event is their annual home meet, the Gene Glader Classic, on Saturday, February 17th.
