‘Walls are closing in’: Suspect sent disturbing texts hours before shooting St. Pete man point-blank

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (WFLA) — Hours before Robert Worthington was accused of shooting a man at point-blank range in Pinellas Park, he texted a friend saying he was homicidal, according to court documents.

A bench warrant filed on Monday morning revealed more details about the deadly shooting that occurred last Friday, June 5, just before 5 a.m.

Deputies responded to 6612 69th Avenue North in Pinellas Park, an auto shop, after receiving a call from a man who said he was woken up by the sound of a gunshot inside the building, but got locked out when he went outside. He requested an ambulance and told the dispatcher his friend was inside.
