St. Pete Beach leaders consider new beach restrictions

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — New beach restrictions are up for consideration in St. Pete Beach.

City leaders are looking at limitations that could impact visitors, locals and businesses.

The proposed ordinance could change what items and activities are allowed.

If approved, the new restrictions could include the following bans:

  • Smoking and vaping, excluding cigars
  • Bikes
  • Leaving unattended fishing lines

Commissioners are also considering prohibiting fireworks on or over the beach. Additionally, the measure requires registration with the city for activities including:

  • Yoga classes
  • Photography setups
  • Catered dinners
