Pinellas County Traffic Alert: The Commutes Getting Hit Hardest Next Week

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers across Pinellas County will need to adjust their travel plans and brace for delays as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 rolls out a heavy schedule of lane closures from Sunday, July 5 through Saturday, July 11, 2026. The upcoming roadwork spans critical commuter routes, bringing a mix of overnight disruptions and around-the-clock traffic restrictions.

Major overnight disruptions are scheduled for the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Commuters using I-275 should expect nightly lane closures on the bridge starting Tuesday, July 7, and running through Saturday, July 11. These restrictions will be in place each night from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning.

Further north, US 19 will see dual construction zones operating on identical nighttime schedules. Lane closures are set for both the stretch from Tampa Road to Tarpon Avenue, and the section between State Road 580 (Main Street) and State Road 586 (Curlew Road).
