Source reveals mayor’s pick to redevelop Gas Plant District; official announcement set for Thursday

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — The future of St. Petersburg’s Historic Gas Plant District could become clearer Thursday morning as Mayor Ken Welch is expected to announce his selection for a developer to lead the redevelopment of the 86-acre site.

Late Wednesday, city council member Corey Givens told 8 On Your Side he could confirm the group Welch is expected to choose is The Burg Bid LLC. by Blake Investment Partners. This group’s proposal includes development of a new Woodson Museum, mixed income neighborhood housing, parks, an event center, regional connectivity and more.
