28-year-old man dies in Pinellas County Jail, sheriff’s office says

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A Pinellas County inmate was found unresponsive in his cell and later died on Friday, the sheriff’s office said.

Search underway after man disappears on St. Pete Beach, sheriff’s office says

Robert Sunmonu, 28, had been in the Pinellas County Jail since May 13, 2026, on hold for U.S. Marshals.

Detectives said Sunmonu had documented preexisting medical conditions, but they did not identify an official cause of death.
