The U.S. Coast Guard awarded a $60 million contract to rebuild and modernize waterfront facilities at Sector St. Petersburg, replacing infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Helene and preparing the base for future Fast Response Cutter operations.
The contract went to Tutor Perini Corp. of Framingham, Massachusetts, on Aug. 13, with completion expected in summer 2028. The work includes new berthing and marine maintenance facilities, a multipurpose training facility, a boat ramp, fuel station, stormwater systems and other waterfront infrastructure.
The Coast Guard also plans to build a new bulkhead capable of supporting crane operations, install upgraded mooring equipment and shore utility connections and improve waterfront lighting for Fast Response Cutters and other cutter classes.
