HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — County officials will begin aerial spraying across several Tampa neighborhoods and Town ‘N Country this week to cut down adult mosquito populations after surveillance traps detected dengue virus activity.
Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services announced that helicopter treatments using Dibrom insecticide are scheduled between Sept. 8 and Sept. 11. The low-altitude flights will operate roughly 150 feet above ground level, targeting areas during the early morning and overnight hours when mosquitoes are most active and wind speeds are typically low.
The spraying schedule begins early Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. in Hyde Park, South Tampa, and Ybor City. The South Tampa zone runs between Columbus Drive to the north, Bayshore Boulevard and West San Miguel Street to the south, the Hillsborough River and Hillsborough Bay to the east, and Manhattan Avenue to the west…
