CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — The trial of a former Pinellas County plastic surgeon accused of murdering a lawyer who was opposing him in a contentious civil case continues Tuesday.
Prosecutors spent several days addressing witnesses and laying out their evidence against Tomasz Kosowski, attempting to convince a judge that he murdered Largo attorney Steven Cozzi in 2023.

Kosowski waived his right to a jury trial and dismissed his public defender, instead choosing to represent himself in the case. He faces the death penalty, if convicted.
When the trial began, he did not give an opening statement, and has only cross-examined two of the state’s witnesses so far: a DNA analyst and blood-splatter expert.
The doctor is accused of sneaking into Cozzi’s law office and attacking him in the bathroom, which investigators said had several blood stains and smelled heavily of bleach. Cozzi’s belongings were left seemingly untouched in his office.
Prosecutors said blood and both men’s DNA were found in the office bathroom, two of Kosowski’s vehicles, and his garage.
