Stalled front brings rain to the Suncoast. Tropics need watching.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A wet stretch of weather is taking shape across the Suncoast, with several days of showers and thunderstorms and the potential for locally heavy rain. Today and Wednesday are First Alert Weather Days due to the chance that a few of the rains could be disruptive to planed activities.

Today brings a big increase in rain as a slow-moving front settles into Florida. Rain chances reach around 70% near Sarasota and Bradenton and as high as 90% inland. Highs will generally be in the mid to upper 80s.

Wednesday and Thursday look especially unsettled, with repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Some could produce heavy rain. The National Weather Service expects widespread totals of 2 to 4 inches through the week, with locally higher amounts that could cause flooding.
