Padres News: Jason Adam Honored as Rays’ Nominee for Esteemed Roberto Clemente Award

Jason Adam, a pitcher recently traded to the San Diego Padres from the Tampa Bay Rays, has been named the Rays’ 2024 nominee for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award.

Adam told Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Florida that he was “blown away” by the team choosing him to represent them for the award.

“It’s, without a doubt, the greatest honor of my career,” Adam said over the phone. “I think it’s hard to put into words…At the end of the day, the goal is to use baseball…to make the lives of people around you just a little bit better.”

This award highlights players who demonstrate exceptional character and commitment to community involvement, with one nominee selected from each Major League Baseball (MLB) team annually.

While part of the Rays organization, Adam actively participated in various philanthropic efforts.

He was notably involved with the Big League Impact foundation and engaged in the “Reading with the Rays” program, which fosters literacy among young fans.

His contributions extended beyond the field; he supported the International Justice Mission and donated $7,500 through MLB Charities as part of his nomination efforts. Adam’s engagement in community service reflects a deeper commitment to improving the lives of those around him.
