Over 80 arrested for ‘looting and scams’ after hurricanes: Pinellas County Sheriff

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Over 80 people were arrested for “for crimes related to looting and scams involving vulnerable beach residents and businesses” in the wake of hurricanes Helene and Milton, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri will hold a news conference Thursday afternoon to discuss undercover operations targeting crime on the barrier islands.
