A Florida woman was honored for saving a man’s life in a community garden. Senator Ashley Moody recently presented a Florida’s Finest Award to Sharon Gibbs for saving the life of the man. Gibbs, a cardiac nurse, heard cries for help and immediately jumped into action.
When a Sun City Center man was tending a plot in a community garden, he collapsed. Sharon Gibbs, a cardiac nurse, happened to be walking nearby, and even though it was her day off, jumped into action. Gibbs instructed her husband to grab the nearest AED, and began performing CPR. Gibbs performed CPR and administered an automated external defibrillator on a man experiencing cardiac arrest.
“A man is alive today because of the decisive action by one of Florida’s Finest: Sharon Gibbs,” said Senator Ashley Moody. “Sharon, a cardiac nurse on her day off, happened to be walking by a community garden at the exact moment a man collapsed from heart failure. She quickly sent her husband for the nearest AED and performed CPR until responders arrived, saving the man’s life. She is truly a hero, and I am honored to present her with a Florida’s Finest Award.”…
