Teen suspect turns himself in after shooting 17-year-old boy in Salem

SALEM, Ore. — A 16-year-old boy turned himself in and is facing charges after allegedly shooting a 17-year-old boy in downtown Salem last week.

On May 20, around 6:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of 220 High Street Southeast, around Courthouse Square, and found the 17 year old, who was hospitalized and said to be in stable condition. The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived, causing a multi-agency search.

According to the Salem Police Department, detectives were able to identify the suspect and attempted to find him, but the suspect turned himself in early Tuesday morning at Marion County Juvenile Department…
