In 2014, the city of Newberg added a small fee to monthly utility bills to fund police department services and pay for construction of a communications tower. The $2.75 fee joined several others that added about $10 per month to property owners’ bills.
Despite the minimal amount, the fees have continued to draw howls of protest claiming the move amounted to government overreach and should have been approved by a vote of the people.
Well, that fee is going to go away very soon…
