Oregon may face competition for firefighting resources, officials say

SALEM — With much of the Northwest facing heightened wildfire risk this summer, Oregon’s top fire officials expect to vie with surrounding states for firefighters and equipment.

Most of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Northern California are considered to be at risk of “significant wildland fire potential” starting next month, raising concerns they’ll be contending for a limited number of crews and gear, fire officials said at a recent legislative hearing.
