Some rain and cooler now much milder next week

Overcast skies will give way to rain showers across the Willamette Valley tonight as a closed low pressure system moves overhead. We expect heavy downpours at times, with urban areas potentially seeing runoff and ponding water. Motorists should be aware of reduced visibility and an increased risk of hydroplaning. Any funnel clouds that form are unlikely to reach the ground.

Rain amounts will be much lighter on Sunday as the low shifts eastward. Cooler than average temperatures will persist through Wednesday. Conditions will be mainly dry Monday through Wednesday, though light showers are possible in the Cascades from time to time. Rain chances increase for both the lowlands and mountains Thursday into Friday, with temperatures remaining cooler.
