Corvallis man hit with flashlight in early morning assault

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Corvallis Police caught a man accused of beating another person with a flashlight during a fight over a woman early Tuesday morning, according to the Corvallis Police Department.

CPD officials said officers responded to the 100-block of Southwest Avery Avenue around 1:15 a.m. on June 22 after getting a report of an attack. The investigation found that James Allen Burke, 45, of Corvallis, went after the victim following a dispute involving a woman Burke had previously been in a relationship with.

“You’re a dead man,” Burke reportedly said before hitting the victim multiple times in the head with a large flashlight, according to police. Police said the victim partially blocked the blows with his hands but was hurt in the attack…
