More than a hundred people took refuge from wildfire smoke and high temperatures and filed into the cool confines of a local auditorium Aug. 6 to hear, and in some cases question, their representative in the U.S. House of Representatives: Andrea Salinas.
Newberg High School was next on the list of venues hosting in-person and remote town hall meetings featuring the 6th Congressional District representative, whose second term will end Dec. 31 and who will seek reelection in November.
Introduced by Newberg City Council Elise Yarnell Hollamon, who served as the emcee of the event, Salinas welcome the crowd with a query: “I want to just start off by asking all of you, just with a show of hands, a simple question: How many of you feel like you are better off today than you were a year ago?”…
