PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The City of Woodburn is reviewing its development regulations and potential improvements needed to support data centers in the city, officials announced Tuesday.
Woodburn City Manager Scott Derickson informed the City Council that the City retained advisory firm Thomas Consulting Group to review the city’s ordinances, policies, utility infrastructure and environmental regulations.
According to the city, the review will help the City find any changes needed to evaluate future data center applications and to ensure community concerns over data centers are addressed.

“This work is about making sure the City is prepared and has the right tools and technical expertise available so the City can adequately protect the public interest should a data application be forthcoming,” said Derickson. “Our goal is to have a clear and transparent process that reflects community priorities and gives decision-makers the information they need to make thoughtful, informed decisions.”…
