Oregon exoneree officially declared innocent after 1986 wrongful murder conviction

SALEM, Ore. (KPTV) – A man wrongfully convicted of murder is celebrating after he became the third person to ever receive a certificate of innocence from the state of Oregon.

In the 80s, Santiago Ventura Morales was wrongfully convicted of a murder in Sandy, Ore.

While that conviction was overturned in the 90s, Morales has still been fighting for decades to get a certificate of innocence, basically saying the state was wrong to press charges against him…
