PORTLAND, Ore. — Here’s a look at all the major races for local offices that will appear on the May 2026 primary ballot in the Portland region, including Washington, Clackamas and Marion counties, as well as the Metro government. The candidates listed below are those who appear in the Oregon State Voters’ Pamphlet or the state campaign finance database.
Ballots were mailed out starting April 29 and are due back by 8 p.m. on May 19. For up-to-date coverage of the current primary election, head to KGW’s main Elections page or visit the Oregon Secretary of State’s website. The deadline to register to vote or switch party affiliation in time for the primary was April 28, although you can still check your registration status online.
Most of the local races on the May primary ballot are nonpartisan, meaning voters won’t be restricted to only voting for candidates from their own political party — although some races will be restricted to voters within specific geographic electoral districts. In most races, the top two finishers will advance to a runoff in November, unless one candidate wins outright by getting more than 50% of the vote in May…
