STAYTON, Ore. – A 77-year-old man suffered serious injuries after a head-on crash on a bridge near Stayton on May 17, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan said deputies responded to Stayton Scio Road around 9:17 a.m. after a caller reported the crash blocked the bridge and people were trapped inside a car. Fire crews worked to free Daniel Harnden of Stayton from his black Chrysler 300 before he was taken to Salem Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies contacted the second driver, Christian Ramon-Carbajal, 31, of Woodburn, who was driving a Hummer H3. Ramon-Carbajal showed signs of being impaired. The investigation revealed Ramon-Carbajal was traveling south on Stayton Scio Road when he hit a curb and veered into the opposite lane, hitting Harnden head-on. Both cars had heavy front-end damage…
