Deadly use of force considered justified after Woodburn police shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Woodburn police officer was found justified following a deadly shooting incident near the Woodburn Outlet mall in early May, a Marion County grand jury determined.

The driver was going south on Arney Road towards the outlet mall and had slowed to navigate a turn when the suspect, Israel Hernandez-Martinez, stepped out and swung a pour-pronged tire iron at the car, hitting the driver’s side door, officials said.
