Warm, dry weather expected as temperatures heat up this week

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Sunday, Utah! We have a gorgeous week ahead of us as a strong area of high pressure takes control of most of the country.

Today we are looking at clear skies across the state with temperatures right around average in the north, and a few degrees below in the north, but still pleasant. Daytime highs in northern Utah will be in the low to mid 70s, and mid 60s to low 70s in higher terrain. Southern Utah will see highs in the mid to upper 70s with the typically warmer spots in the mid 80s to low 90s.

Heat kicks up

We start turning up the heat to kick off the workweek. On Monday our daytime highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s for most of the state, with the hot spots hitting upper 80s to mid 90s. Dry weather is still anticipated with clear to mostly clear skies on deck. However, a slight disturbance will arrive Monday night into Tuesday which might bring a brief light shower overnight and into Tuesday for northern Utah, but as of right now it seems unlikely for most of us.

Further warming

We continue heating up Tuesday with highs inching a few degrees warmer, putting the Wasatch Front in the low to mid 80s and the St. George area in the mid to upper 90s. We further warm on Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 80s for most of the state, and flirting with triple-digit heat in St. George. Temperatures plateau Wednesday through Friday with upper 80s on deck for most and upper 90s to low 100s for the hot spots. We could see another spike in temperatures across the north on Saturday with mid 90s possible for Salt Lake City, but that’s still a little too far out to say with confidence.

Ultimately, it’ll be a warm dry week! Keep in mind, this could lead to increasing fire danger as fuels dry out and heat builds…
