SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Despite losing most of their tree fruit to a spring freeze, some Utah farmers plan to continue selling at farmers markets this summer with help from growers in neighboring states.
For decades, Tagge Farm in Box Elder County has produced peaches, cherries, apricots, nectarines and other tree fruits. This year was expected to be another strong harvest until temperatures plunged below freezing in April.
“When it gets down to 25 degrees, even for 30 minutes, you’ll start having almost 90% loss,” said Chad Tagge, of Tagge Farms.
