SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Intermountain Health researchers say they conducted a landmark new study showing that artificial intelligence can streamline and enhance care for two of the most common chronic pulmonary conditions in the world.
In treating one of those conditions, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which affects one out of every 13 adults in the United States, researchers found that implementing AI resulted in a 50% drop in hospitalizations, 20% fewer emergency department visits, and a 57% reduction in overall costs.
