Mexican national charged with drug and immigration crimes in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has indicted a Mexican national on drug and immigration charges following a significant drug seizure in Salt Lake County.

Francisco Javier Gonzalez-Diaz, a 40-year-old residing illegally in West Jordan, Utah, was initially charged by complaint on May 19, 2026. According to court documents, law enforcement executed a search warrant on May 14, 2026, at a residence in West Jordan. Gonzalez-Diaz, the investigation’s target, was located in his vehicle before the search. Authorities seized 471 grams of fentanyl pills, 120 grams of heroin, and 303 grams of methamphetamine from his residence, all of which tested positive for drugs.

Immigration officials confirmed that Gonzalez-Diaz is not a U.S. citizen and has been previously removed from the country. He faces charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine, as well as reentry of a previously removed alien.
