UDOT officials prepare for heat-caused road damage

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — As temperatures increase across the state of Utah, state officials are preparing for road damage

Nick Naylor, a spokesperson with Utah Department of Transportation, says that, as it gets hotter in the state, Utahns can expect to see some instances of road buckling and other potential damage. While road buckling can happen at other times during the year, it is especially prominent when it’s hot.

“Right now, we’ve seen that just a few times this year where roads have buckled, but where we’re heading into triple-digit temperatures, we’re going to see a few more cases of that,” Naylor said. “It’s almost guaranteed to happen.”…
