Teen accused of speeding over 158 mph, evading police in Utah, pleads guilty in two cases

DAVIS COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A 19-year-old man who was charged with speeding over 158 mph on a freeway and failing to respond when a police officer attempted to pull him over, has now pled guilty in two separate cases.

Spencer Riley Clawson, 19, pled guilty in the 2nd District Court to charges of failing to stop for police (third-degree felony), and reckless endangerment (class A misdemeanor), in two separate cases. As a result, a total of 10 other charges and infractions between the two cases were dismissed, including one charge of travelling 161 mph in a 70-mph zone.

According to court documents, on April 18, a Woods Cross police officer observed a motorcyclist approaching from behind at a high rate of speed. The officer believed that the motorcyclist was going over 100 mph and was “veering between vehicles without signaling and in a highly unsafe manner.”…
