Taylorsville officer charged with manslaughter makes first court appearance

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) —The Taylorsville Police Officer charged with manslaughter in an October 2024 shooting appeared in court for the first time since he was charged.

A manslaughter charge was filed against 36-year-old Jimmy Jeremy Haas, who is a detective with Taylorsville Police Department, on May 14, after a review into a fatal officer-involved shooting on October 9, 2024.

Haas appeared in court for the first time since being charged early Friday morning. During that initial appearance, a senior judge, Judge Barry Lawrence, conducted the hearing.
