Woman who started ‘Promise 2 Live’ charity says help can start with a simple conversation

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — September is Suicide Prevention Month, and September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day.

But every day should be a day to think about this, because so many people are struggling. Oftentimes, those who end up taking their life are struggling silently, so it might be up to you to start the conversation.

Brandy Vega started the charity “Promise 2 Live” after her 14-year-old daughter tried to take her own life. She said that the conversation can start with a simple ask.

So, what do you say? According to Brandy, say something like, “That must be hard. I’m so sorry. Let’s go to lunch tomorrow, or let’s talk about it.”…
